Certains d’entre vous en ont certainement entendu parler, de la Zero Emissions Race. Parties le 16 ao\u00fbt depuis Gen\u00e8ve, quatre \u00e9quipes ont pris part \u00e0 ce projet fou de r\u00e9aliser un tour du monde en 80 jours, avec des bolides propuls\u00e9s par un moteur \u00e9lectrique (avec transport en bateau de Shanghai \u00e0 Vancouver et de Cancun \u00e0 Lisbonne). Un des points forts de cette course est le souci d’en faire un \u00e9v\u00e9nement \u00ab\u00a0vert\u00a0\u00bb . Les \u00e9quipes sont tenues de produire l’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e9quivalente \u00e0 celle consomm\u00e9e par leur engin, et ce au moyen de sources renouvelables (\u00e9olienne pour l’\u00e9quipe australienne, et solaire pour les 3 autres, provenant de la Suisse, de l’Allemagne et de la Cor\u00e9e du Sud). Mais les organisateurs vont plus loin: ils veulent r\u00e9aliser un bilan carbone neutre pour l’ensemble de l’\u00e9v\u00e9nement (il s’agit donc de compenser les \u00e9missions du camions qui suit avec les pi\u00e8ces de rechange, ainsi que le transport en bateau).<\/p>\n

Etant pass\u00e9 par Bruxelles ce samedi, j’ai eu l’occasion d’assister \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence de presse donn\u00e9e \u00e0 Autoworld au Cinquantenaire, par Louis Palmer, l’organisateur de la course. Cet aventurier environnemental est \u00e0 l’origine du projet Solartaxi, et il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 parcouru la plan\u00e8te \u00e0 bord de sa voiture \u00e9lectrique et des panneaux solaires install\u00e9s sur une remorque. Il se dit tr\u00e8s heureux de voir que d’autres gens prennent part \u00e0 son aventure, et esp\u00e8re que cette course deviendra un incontournable d’ici quelques ann\u00e9es, avec des dizaines, voire des centaines de voitures \u00e9lectriques sur la ligne de d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n

J’ai \u00e9galement eu l’occasion de parler avec l’ing\u00e9nieur du Zero-tracer, le v\u00e9hicule de l’\u00e9quipe suisse \u00ab\u00a0Oerlikon Solar\u00a0\u00bb. Ce biplace pr\u00e9sente un profil a\u00e9rodynamique permettant de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement les pertes de frottement. Avec une autonomie de 300 km,son moteur de 183 chevaux lui permet\u00a0 d’atteindre une vitesse de 240 km\/h, et\u00a0 de passer de 0 \u00e0 100km\/h en moins de 4.5 secondes (plus vite qu’une porche 911!).<\/p>\n

Les batteries, d’une capacit\u00e9 de 22kWh (ce qui \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 30 batteries de voiture classiques), peuvent \u00eatre recharg\u00e9es sur secteur en moins de deux heures. Elles sont principalement compos\u00e9es de fer et de phosphate, et pr\u00e9sentent une dur\u00e9e de vie de 10 \u00e0 20 ans \/ plus de 300 000 km. De plus le v\u00e9hicule est \u00e9quip\u00e9 comme toute voiture conventionnelle (avec phares, clignotants, GPS et m\u00eame une radio int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans les si\u00e8ges \ud83d\ude42 ).<\/p>\n
