Le soleil de Californie mis à profit

Le solaire a le vent en poupe dans l’Ouest américain: l’installation de quatre centrales solaires a été approuvée hier par le gouvernement des Etats-Unis. Produisant au total 1000 mégawatts, elle prendra la première place dans le classement des plus grandes centrales solaires au monde.

La surface nécessaire pour cette installation est de 2842 hectares (environ 4000 terrains de foot, pour vous faire une idée). La société responsable du projet est Millenium LLC, une firme déjà présente en Espagne et en Egypte notamment. Le Ministère américain de l’Energie va avancer un prêt conditionnel de 1,9 milliards de dollars pour la construction, et ce projet va générer 300 emplois permanents et jusque 1000 emplois lors de sa mise en oeuvre.

Le gouvernement des Etats-Unis semble donner de plus en plus d’importance à ces projets, et plus spécialement au Nevada et en Californie, deux Etats fort touchés par la récession. Un autre exemple est celui de l’inauguration récente de la plus grande usine au monde de production de mâts d’éoliennes à Pueblo, dans le Colorado, par le ministre des affaires intérieures, Ken Salazar.
