De plus le pétrole cher induit que les autres énergies deviennent parfois plus compétitives et donc que l’on consomme un peu moins de pétrole.
Le problème vient surtout du fait du manque d’investissement dans les raffineries, plus personne ne veut y investir massivement et on maintient en exploitation des sites vieillots et dont la rentabilité énergétique n’est pas optimale.
En conséquence l’éthylène base pétrole est devenu hors de prix et complètement décalé par rapport aux prix du pétrole.

Et Total n’y va pas avec un portefeuille en peau d’oursin … jugez plutôt :

En effet, la théorie du pic est purement mathématique, si on consomme un stock fini de ressources, on aura un pic de consommation à un moment ou un autre !

Sinon pour l’histoire de formation du pétrole dans des couches terrestres, comment justifie-t-il cela comme renouvelable ? La terre réabsorbe d’immense quantité de carbone qu’il transforme en pétrole… Même en admettant ça, vue que pour le moment la quantité de CO2 dans l’atmosphère, ça veut dire qu’on produit plus de gaz carbonique qu’il n’y a de carbone absorbé au niveau global. On se retrouve donc pour moi avec un renouvellement du pétrole obligatoirement plus petit que notre production, donc un pic… Vous m’avez suivi ? Je sais pas si je suis clair !
